MSU CCED to Host Stakeholder Forum: "Re-Imagining the Built Environment"

March 8, 2018

The U.S. generates a substantial amount of structural debris and construction waste annually, most of which ends up in landfills. Legacy communities in Michigan have had the additional burden of structural abandonment and blight which exacerbates the adverse economic, social, and environmental conditions. By reimagining our built environment paradigm, the Science of Domicology seeks to discover and apply innovative tools, models, policies, and programs that can end infrastructure abandonment and the negative economic, social, and environmental impacts associated with this phenomenon.

The "Re-Imagining the Built Environment" forum brings together a broad stakeholder network of thinkers and doers to discuss practical and promising policies and practices that can help us re-imagine our built environment. This event will include presentations from leaders in the material recycling, property management, and reuse industries. Panel discussions will address the policy and practice of structural abandonment and how structural materials may be re-used and thereby diverted from landfills.

We hope that you consider joining us at this event on Monday, May 7th, 2018. Save the date flyer, Monday May 7 2018. "Re-imagining the built environment" event at Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, 219 South Harrison Road, East Lansing, Michigan.
